As the Washington Capitals continued their debauched celebration of winning the Stanley Cup, we can stop and remember a couple of important Pittsburgh Penguins championship memories this week. Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of the Penguins defeating the Nashville Predators to win the 2016-17 Stanley Cup. And today marks two anniversaries. It’s been two years since the Penguins beat the Sharks for their 2015-2016 Stanley Cup Championship, and nine years to the day that the Penguins claimed the franchise’s third chalice after winning Game 7 against the Detroit Red Wings in 2009. The Capitals may have won this year, but they’ve got to win four more to tie the Pens.
