The Penguins played their best game in the past week against the Capitals last night. Unfortunately, moral victories don’t count in the win column. The defending Stanley Cup Champions came away with the 2-1 victory thanks to a late game-winning goal by TJ Oshie. We’ve seen plenty of Good Geno so far this season, but last night “Bad Geno” reared his head, taking a two minute roughing minor before being ejected later in the game after an apparently innocuous check on TJ Oshie in which Malkin, bracing himself for impact, made contact with Oshie’s head. It was announced today that Malkin wouldn’t face any additional discipline for the hit. The Penguins need to get a W this Saturday night when they take on the 7-6 Arizona Coyotes.
