Penguins Vs. Golden Knights – December 14

Just 10 days after the Penguins hoisted their second Stanley Cup in two years, the Vegas Golden Knights announced their expansion draft selections. It was a list that included long-time franchise goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. And when the NHL Schedule was released, everyone in Pittsburgh immediately circled tonight’s game as a highlight of the regular season, when the Penguins would, for the first time, play against their long-tenured former netminder. The match up almost didn’t happen. Marc-Andre Fleury had been on Long Term Injury Reserve after taking a knee to the head against the Detroit Red Wings two months ago. Matt Murray was also on IR after he suffered a lower body injury against the Philadelphia Flyers on November 27. However, both goalies were activated this week, meaning the long awaited Murray-Fleury duel is happening on schedule.
