The NHL All-Star Weekend is upon us with Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang are representing the Pittsburgh Penguins at the festivities in San Jose tonight and tomorrow. Sid, though, is going to sit out of tonight’s Skills Competition with an illness. The Pens captain still plans on playing in the actual All-Star Game on Saturday night. Remember, if a player chooses to sit out the All-Star Game, whether its due to injury or not, that player must then be held out of their respective team’s first game once the regular season resumes. For instance, Alexander Ovechkin isn’t participating in the events this weekend and thus cannot participate on the ice when the Capitals are back in action next Friday. After 9 days off, the Penguins start the unofficial second half of the season, and their push to the playoffs, Monday night when they take on the New Jersey Devils on Rocky 96.5!
