After the Pens looked sluggish in their 6-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils Monday night, the best team in the Eastern Conference, the Tampa Bay Lightning, came to town. For this game, however, the Pens came to play. Riley Sheahan, Phil Kessel, and Sidney Crosby all scored within the first 9 minutes of the first period and the Penguins held on for a 4-2 win against the Bolts. The Lightning’s slow start could possibly be attributed to this game being their first back from the All-Star break, but they did surge several times after digging an early hole. The Penguins, though, held the Lightning off the board until two late third period goals ruined Matt Murray’s shut out. Murray still ended with 33 saves. The Pens will wrap up their three-game home stand this Friday night against the Ottawa Senators. Listen to all the action on Rocky 96.5!
