If you only looked at the stats from last night’s Pens/Flyers game and not the score, you would have thought the Flyers blew the Penguins off the ice. After all, the Pens allowed 51 shots on goal, including 28 in the second period. But Matt Murray was there to save the day, stopping 50 of those shots, and the Pens defeated their cross-state rival 4-1. Evgeni Malkin has a hearing today with the NHL after he wildly swung his stick at Michael Raffl. Raffl incurred Geno’s wrath after punching Malkin in the back of the head, to which Malkin took umbrage. Ollie Maatta was placed on injured reserve by the Pens after suffering an upper-body injury in last night’s game, and will be out indefinitely. The Pens face Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers tomorrow night on Rocky 96.5!
