The Penguins failed to clinch a playoff berth last night when they lost to the Red Wings 4-1. The lone goal, and bright spot, on the evening came from the stick of Phil Kessel. It was Kessel’s first goal since March 14, and his first even strength goal since January. The win was Detroit’s 6th in a row and 8th in its last 9 games. The Penguins now have to play the Red Wings again on Thursday, albeit this time at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. There is a hope that Evgeni Malkin will be back on the ice Thursday as he was wearing a full-contact jersey at practice today. Listen to the action tomorrow night on Rocky 96.5!
