The Islanders never trailed during last night’s Round 1-Game 1 against the Penguins, and even though Justin Schultz tied it with the goalie pulled in the 3rd, the Islanders were too much for the Pens at Nassau Colosseum, taking the 1-0 series lead on Josh Bailey’s overtime game-winner. The Islanders often dominated offensive zone time through the contest, but the Penguins kept battling back with goals from Schultz, Phil Kessel, and a power-play tally from Evgeni Malkin. Although Pittsburgh now finds themselves in a deficit in the series, there were bright spots including Kessel’s goal. After a long goalless drought, Kessel came on strong towards the end of the season, and demonstrated his proclivity for playoff production by scoring last night. The Pens face the Islanders in Game 2 of their series tomorrow night on Rocky 96.5!
