The Penguins’ playoff run is dangling by a thread after two losses over the weekend to the New York Islanders. The Pens took their first lead of the series during Friday night’s Game 2 when Erik Gudbranson scored his first goal as a Penguin. But that lead was a short-lived one as the Islanders tied it up just under 3 minutes later. The Islanders scored twice more for the 3-1 victory on Friday. The venue changed for yesterday’s Game 3, but it was more of the same as the Penguins again got the opening tally, only to be tied and eventually overcome a minute and a half later. The Penguins and their anemic offense once again scored a lone goal as the Islanders were victorious in Pittsburgh, 4-1. So now the Penguins are in unfamiliar territory for this specific group, facing elimination after just 3 games into the 1st series. They’ll try to claw their way back into it tomorrow night when they take on the Islanders in Game 4 on Rocky 96.5!
