“Layla” Guitar Sells for $1.25 Million

The guitar that Duane Allman used during the recording of the legendary song Layla has been sold at auction for a whopping $1.25 million! Allman, who passed away in October of 1971 in a motorcycle crash at the age of 24, had used the axe on the first two Allman Brothers albums as well as the Derek and the Dominoes classic album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. The 1957 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop changed hands three times throughout the years before being auctioned off. When it was sold, it was acknowledged as one of the most important, and most expensive, guitars to ever be sold.
