2020 is here and it brings with it some major rock album anniversaries. Here’s a month-by-month look at the albums and their ages:
January – The Pretenders self-titled debut turns 40, and the Black Crowe’s Shake Your Money Maker is 30.
February – Damn Yankee’s self-titled album debuted 30 years ago.
March – March is the 40th Anniversary of Def Leppard’s first album On Through the Night.
April – Both Black Sabbath’s Heaven or Hell and Judas Priest’s British Steel celebrate 40 years.
May – Joan Jett’s Bad Reputation and Whitesnake’s Ready an’ Willing hit the 40 year milestone.
June – Deep Purple in Rock, the band’s fourth studio album hits 50.
July – AC/DC’s Back in Black blows out 40 candles on its cake.
August – Ritual de lo Habitual by Jane’s Addiction and Facelift from Alice in Chains enter their third decade at 30 years.
September – Black Sabbath commemorates 50 years of Paranoid’s existence as Ozzy’s Blizzard of Ozz hits 40, while Queensryche’s Empire and Judas Priest’s Painkiller are 30.
October – Led Zeppelin III marks its 50th year, and U2 double dips with Boy turning 40 and All That You Can’t Leave Behind celebrating 20.
November – Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, the one and only studio album from Derek and the Dominos, has its 50th anniversary. And Motorhead’s Ace of Spades has been rocking faces off for 40 years.
December – The Clash’s Sandinista! and Queen’s soundtrack to Flash Gordon reach 40.
